Privacy policy
This policy describes how the Hyderabad Metro Routes mobile application (the “App”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use it. The App is developed and published by com.erevolutions (the “Publisher”). We designed the App to minimise data collection and to keep most functionality offline.
1. Who we are
The App is an unofficial route-planning tool for the Hyderabad Metro network. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by HMRL, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad, or any government authority.
2. Information we do not collect
- We do not require you to create an account.
- We do not operate our own backend servers to store your personal profile or journey history in the cloud.
- We do not integrate third-party analytics or advertising SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics or ad networks) in the App as shipped from this project.
- We do not sell your personal information.
3. Data stored on your device
The App may store the following locally on your device:
- Recent route searches — a short list of recent “from / via / to” journeys you planned (capped in number), to help you repeat searches quickly.
- Place search cache — when you search for a place, the App may cache search results and resolved “nearest station” hints in a local file to improve performance and avoid repeat network calls.
- Bundled assets — metro network data, station coordinates, and related JSON files are bundled with the App or read from app storage.
This local data remains on your device unless you clear app storage, uninstall the App, or use OS-level erase features. See our Data retention page for how long we keep each category.
4. Network access and third-party services
When your device is online, the App may use the network for limited purposes:
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim (OpenStreetMap Foundation) — if you use place search, your query text may be sent to Nominatim to obtain coordinates and display names. Those requests are subject to Nominatim’s usage policy and OSMF’s privacy policy. We do not control their servers.
- Connectivity checks — the App may check whether a data connection is available (for example to decide whether to try place search or show offline messaging). This does not send your journey details to us.
- Network map image — the map screen may load a publicly hosted network diagram image from the Internet. Loading that image may reveal standard HTTP metadata (such as IP address) to the hosting provider, not to the Publisher.
5. Permissions
The App may request the Internet permission on Android (or equivalent network access on other platforms) so that optional online features (place search, map image) can work. The App does not require continuous GPS location access for core routing.
6. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through a third-party service, please contact that service provider.
7. International users
If you use Nominatim or other services, your data may be processed in countries where those services operate. See their respective policies.
8. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
